Slate & Silk explores the balance between bold contrast and refined simplicity. Designed around a dramatic palette of charcoal cabinetry, sculptural lighting, and striking veined stone, the kitchen embraces modern luxury while maintaining an atmosphere that feels inviting and livable.
The design centers on a waterfall island wrapped in statement stone, where sweeping black veining becomes both artwork and architecture. Deep slate-toned finishes create depth and sophistication, while soft white surfaces and carefully layered lighting introduce a sense of lightness and flow. Thoughtfully selected details—from the minimalist cabinetry to the expressive artwork—add personality without distracting from the clean, contemporary composition.
The name reflects the project's defining contrast: the strength and permanence of slate paired with the smooth elegance of silk. Beyond its visual impact, Slate & Silk was recognized for its thoughtful design and execution, earning a 2026 NARI Regional Contractor of the Year (RotY) Gold Award, a distinction that celebrates excellence in residential remodeling and craftsmanship.
